NESEFI - Center for Studies in Economic and Financial Sociology

The Centre for Studies in Economic and Financial Sociology (NESEFI) was set up in the Department of Production Engineering in 2006 to include students from Sociology, Economics, Administration, Psychology, Production Engineering and related areas that carry out research in the area of Economic and Financial Sociology. Topics such as Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Privatization, Pension Funds, Solidarity Economy and the Financial Market form the framework of issues discussed. The central focus is the financialisation of the Brazilian economy and the world. The Centre is supported by three members of the teaching staff from the Industrial Engineering Department at UFSCar who supervise students' monographs, dissertations and theses on this subject. The Centre is registered in the General Directory of Brazilian Research Groups at CNPq. NESEFI holds meetings every two weeks open to all those interested in the subject.
