Applications

There are two types of applications in our program for international students, as follows: 

[1] Specific call for foreigners: this call is open any time in the year and is intended for applicants that are currently abroad and plan to start their studies in Brazil. To apply, please send an e-mail to ppgep@dep.ufscar.br with the subject “International Student Application” and the following attachments, in English or Portuguese language:

• Academic CV.
• Transcript or certificate of your degrees.
• Statement of purpose. Tell us about your reasons for applying to the proposed program, your preparation for this field of study, and why you have chosen our program. Include other aspects of your background and research interests. Please, indicate potential faculty supervisors as part of your study and interests. It should be a PDF file, between one to two pages.
• Research project. We expect a well-written research project in any of the faculty research areas. It should include a literature review, clear statements of objective and expected results, and a tentative timeline. It should be a PDF file, between five to ten pages.
• Two letters of recommendation. They should be written by people who have supervised you in an academic or employment setting, but at least one of these letters must be from a university professor familiar with your academic work. Additionally, the letters must directly address your suitability for admission to our program.

If the applicant fulfills the initial requirements regarding the submitted documents, the program coordination will define an ad-hoc admission committee that will contact he/she to schedule a remote interview (e.g. through Google Meet). In this interview, the applicant will present the submitted research project and then the members of the committee will ask questions related to the presentation and other related issues. 

[2] Regular call: this call is intended for all students, currently living in or planning to move to Brazil, and the entrance exams are all in Portuguese. There are specific dates for applying to the master program, while you can apply at any time to

All applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit an appropriate certificate scores as evidence of English proficiency, as detailed in the calls. Additionally, international students must show evidence of Portuguese proficiency.

There are no application fees in any of the two calls.
