Academic curriculum structure of the Master´s degree

Master´s students must take at least 6 courses, totaling 50 credits in courses, according to the scheme below:

  1. Three Mandatory General Training Courses (20 credits):
    1. Production Systems (ENP001): 10 credits
    2. Research Methods (ENP002): 8 credits
    3. Production Engineering Seminars I (ENP003): 2 credits.
      Note: The courses mentioned above are offered only in the first semester.
  2. Mandatory course of the line of research in which it is allocated (10 credits)
  3. Two elective courses (20 credits).

Credits in courses for the Master’s degree must be completed within a maximum period of 12 months. The student who does not comply with this rule may be dismissed.

The mandatory courses of each line of research (all with 10 credits) can be offered in the first or second semester, but only once a year.

The courses of the lines of research will be considered elective if taken by students from other lines of research. The elective courses (OP) can be taken in the first or second semester, and the student must identify with his/he supervisor the courses closest to his/her research topic.

The courses may be taken in another postgraduate program, and then requested to use it in a specific form with the administration of the program.

PLEASE NOTE: The Supervised Internship (PESCD in Portuguese) course can be taken until the fourth semester.  It is mandatory only for CAPES scholarship holders.

Students doing the Master's course must take the Qualification Exam within 18 months, and the viva within 24 months, counting from the initial enrollment in the program.
